I am a self-taught artist working mainly in oils.
I was born in London in 1968, I now live in Gloucestershire with my family.
My work draws on themes of childhood, magic, grief, literature, legends, life and death, dark and light and colour
I frequently use colour fields to start a painting, then add figurative imagery often from my imagination, but not always. Maybe a saint, an angel, a lone figure, a dying bull, set against bold blocks of colour. I strive to convey both poignancy and humour.
My influences range far and wide, living and dead. I love the works, and particularly the colours of, Milton Avery, Craigie Aitchison, Mark Rothko and Paul Gaugin. Some contemporary artists I like at the moment are Andrew Cranston, Anne Rothenstein and Henry Curchod.
I started painting full time in recent years, and have held two solo exhibitions in 2021 and 2023 at 2 Blenheim Crescent, London
